MIAMI
VALLEY SPORTS FOUNDATION TEAM GUIDELINES
TEAM OBJECTIVES
•
Field the most competitive team or teams possible at each age
level. The objective is not to win just to win, but to play as
long as possible (and hopefully be one of the final two teams).
This is how a player’s abilities are maximized: by playing more
games and playing the most competitive teams in game situations.
• Maximize the development of our
players by: (a) regularly scheduled practices during the off
season, using recognized drills used by College and Olympic
teams and (b) playing in highly competitive local, state, and
regional tournaments.
• Provide dedicated indoor
facilities for workouts during the winter months and outdoor
facilities for workouts during the spring and summer months.
• Provide a consistent high caliber
coaching staff with requirements for: centralized coordination
of practice drills, clinics, and tournaments scheduling for all
teams (to maximize support across all the teams and travel to
the same tournaments).
TEAM
REQUIREMENTS
•
Coaches may only roster the designated number of players as set
up by the Team Board. Subs may be added for individual
tournaments if a team falls below the designated number of
players allowed.
• A team roster must be turned in
to the General Manager within one month after tryouts are
complete. Players may be added to fill the roster, but the
General Manager must be notified immediately of any roster
changes.
• Coaches’ code of conduct forms
must be completed and returned by December 31st of
the year prior to the playing season.
• Player/parent conduct,
commitment, and medical emergency forms must be completed and
returned by December 31st of the year prior to the
playing season.
• All player fees must be received
by designated turn in dates in order for athletes to play
(please contact the General Manager if a financial hardship
arises).
• Players will not play on another
sports team during the playing season, unless approved by the
coach. High school and middle school sports activities are
excluded from this requirement.
• Tournament schedules will be
determined by a collaboration of the Team Board and coaches.
Tournament entry forms and schedules should be completed and
returned one month prior to season start date.
• National Tournament entry forms
must be completed and returned as soon as a team qualifies.
CODE
OF CONDUCT
• All coaches, players, and parents
will be required to sign a code of conduct.
• Any violation of the code of
conduct will result in a board review. The board will determine
what action should be taken. Their decision will be final!
TEAM
BOARD
• Each organization (softball,
baseball, soccer, etc.) will have a Team Board.
• The board will be comprised of
the General Manager, Administrative Director, and a select
number of coaches.
• The
board will layout guidelines for the teams to follow, select
coaches, and maintain the organization of the teams
